Kiwanis Club of Fort Myers Gateway to the Islands recently held its installation banquet for the club's 2016-2017 officers at Sasse's Restaurant in Fort Myers. Awards were also given to club members for their support in service to the community.
The individuals who took office as of Oct. 1 are: President Lisa Rizzio, Development Director, Children's Advocacy Center of SWFL; secretary Terry Luster; treasurer Gareth Hudson, owner, Hudson Consulting; immediate past president Jack Liptak, VIP Realty Group.
The 2016-2017 GTTI Board of Directors are Susan Block, CEO, Early Learning Coalition; Nancy Coker, Community Relations/ Reading Pals Manager, United Way; Viki Luster, dyslexia tutor; Debbie Norris, VP, Sanibel-Captiva Community Bank.
Outgoing president Jack Liptak, was named GTTI's Kiwanian of the Year in recognition of his year of service as president, and the many years he has committed to the club as one of its founding members.
Terry and Viki Luster each received a Walter Zeller Fellowship Award. This award is named for Mr. Zeller, who provided the seed money for the Kiwanis International Foundation. The Zeller award supports Project Eliminate, an international effort to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus.
Kiwanis Club of Fort Myers Gateway to the Islands is comprised of working and retired members who value community service and the friendships formed within the club. Meetings are held every Tuesday (except 3rd Tuesday Board meeting), 7:30-8:30 a.m. at Perkins on Route 41, just north of College Parkway.
